Rejects and Quality in Tile+
Because measuring quality requires specific data configurations, Tile+ supports multiple setups for tracking rejects during production — available upon request.
On this page, you'll find the supported use cases, how they work, and key insights to help you better understand your production metrics such as Quality, OEE, and OOE.
Use Case 1:
Automatic Reject Counting
Real-Time Quality
What it is:
Rejects are automatically counted in real time using sensors or reject stations along the line.
What you get:
-
Real-time updates on reject quantities.
-
Immediate Quality calculation.
-
OEE and OOE based on live data.
Good to know:
This setup is ideal for lines with reject stations directly connected to the system.

OUT NET QUANTITY= IN - REJECT STATIONS COUNTS

Use Case 2:
Rejects by Subtraction
IN - OUT = Rejects
What it is:
Rejects are calculated by subtracting the net output (OUT) from the total produced at the entry of the line (IN).
How it works:
-
The line has an IN point (start of line) and an OUT point (end of line).
-
Rejects = IN - OUT
Things to note:
-
Depending on the process duration between the "IN" and the "OUT", there may be a delay in data accuracy when the product takes longer than 15 minutes to travel through the line.
-
During this delay, Quality = 0%, and OEE/OOE will also appear as 0, which can be confusing.
-
The Input and Output Quantity and Quality metrics will be updated progressively to ensure they accurately reflect the data.
⚠️ Heads-up:
This is expected behaviour and doesn't mean there's an error. Metrics will reflect the correct values after the full run is processed.
REJECTS = IN - OUT
Use Case 3:
Hybrid Configuration
What it is:
A combination of:
-
Automatic reject counts from multiple stations, and
-
A Net Output count at the end of the line (OUT point) to corroborate total rejects that may have been re-worked, removed manually or lost at some point of the process.
What you get:
-
More accurate reject tracking across complex lines.

OUT NET QUANTITY= IN - REJECT STATIONS COUNTS + OTHER PROCESS LOSSES
